Southworth International Group, Inc. (SIGI) has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer I. This role is based at our Falmouth, ME location.

The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for designing and/or modifying the electrical design of lift devices and equipment from a set of written specifications. This role effectively interfaces with Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality in a manner that promotes sales, quality, and on-time shipments. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
	- Engineer and design new electrical systems for products and/or modifications to existing products from a set of written specifications following established professional practices and procedures for electrical engineering 
- Establish and maintain company electrical design standards and policies 
- Control product costs through design considerations for lowest cost materials and DFA approaches 
- Perform design calculations to ensure proper function and safety of specialized machinery (ie safety circuits, fusing) 
- Assist Sales by providing technical expertise, including direct customer contact, as required 
- Provide Quality and customer service support, as applicable; including site visits to evaluate and resolve machine performance problems 
- Support Manufacturing with site visits and issues on the production floor during assembly to ensure timely completion of ECRs / ECNs 
- Support Purchasing with issues regarding part obsolescence and annual cost reduction initiatives 
- Define, direct, and perform inspection and testing on manufactured electrical systems as part of product development or analysis, as well as failure analysis 
- Ensure design compliance to applicable specifications, codes, and established safety requirements 
- Optimize use of CAD to minimize errors and interferences in design, and to control costs 
- Participate regularly in process improvement projects 
- Perform Risk Assessments, and have the ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate hazards associated with industrial and commercial equipment use
- Perform other duties and complete other projects as may be assigned or requested
Qualifications – Skills and Experience:
	- 1+ years of 3D CAD/modeling; SolidWorks preferred
- Associates degree or higher in Electrical Engineering degree program 
- Proficient design of all aspects of electrical systems, power, and controls for industrial machinery 
- Experience reading and creating electrical wiring diagrams and schematics 
- Experience programming PLC and HMI units – Human Machine Interface a Plus
- Continuous process improvement experience (Lean Six Sigma) a plus
- Familiarity with NEC (national electrical code) NFPA 70, NEMA (National Electro Mnfgs Assn), FM, UL (underwriters Laboratory), CSA (electrical code), EN (European standards), ISO and other agency codes and standards as they relate to electrical machinery
- Proficient in working effectively and accurately against deadlines and time constraints and self-manage daily
- Proven open and effective communication 
- Creative problem-solving skills with regards to electrical design 
- Manage and balance time effectively amongst design and process improvement projects
